Start a family dinner night
A standing dinner that actually happens every week or month.
The families that eat together most often are the ones who put it on the calendar. Pick a regular night and make it easy to say yes.
Tips
- Same time, every time. First Sunday of the month at 5 PM is easier to remember than “sometime soon”.
- Rotate the host. Take turns hosting so no one burns out.
- Keep the menu simple. Tacos, pasta or a big pot of soup. The point is the table, not the food.
- Phones in a basket. Optional, but people remember the conversation.
Checklist
- Pick the night and time
- Decide who hosts first
- Share a family calendar
- Plan a simple menu
- Ask who needs a ride
- Set the next date before everyone leaves
